From Game Jam Prototype to Mobile Game

Dodge-Blue Raccoon is a side project that evolved from a Game Jam prototype into a fully-fledged mobile game. The core gameplay revolves around avoiding an increasing number of enemies within a shrinking space over time.

The original Game Jam version featured a mechanic where the temperature continuously rose, requiring players to collect ice crystal items to maintain a stable temperature (see the fourth image for reference). In the mobile adaptation, additional mechanics were introduced:

  • Boost Mechanic:
  • Players can swiftly dodge obstacles at crucial moments, adding a sense of thrill.
  • Enemy Destruction:
  • Players can now eliminate enemies instead of just avoiding them.
  • Combo System & Real-Time Leaderboard:
  • Players receive bonus points for eliminating enemies in quick succession, fostering competitiveness through a real-time ranking system.

The game was developed in Unity in collaboration with a designer, working together to refine the visual style and gameplay experience. Upon release, the game was successfully published and garnered over 100+ players. It was actively available for approximately two years before being discontinued due to a lack of maintenance, leading to its removal from Google Play.
